Our Proposed Historic District
In order to protect what William Durchslag and Benedict Bruns so artfully crafted a century ago, we have applied to create an historic district that would include five of the original homes of Spanish Town.
The proposed district would include the following —and only the following — five properties:​​

A supermajority of homeowners in the proposed district wants to see it established because these beautiful homes (1) make up a collection of Spanish Colonial Revival style that is unrivaled in the region, (2) share many throughlines and design features that render them architecturally significant as a group, and (3) represent an important part of Park Ridge history.

It the district goes into effect, these properties will generally be protected from demolition. But keep in mind, creation of the proposed historic district will have no impact on any other property whatsoever.

And while we would love to see even more of Spanish Town's homes be protected, that would only ever occur at the initiative of the property owners themselves.
Note: Historic designation does not strip any property owner of their ownership interest in the property. All of the homeowners in the proposed district will still enjoy every right to possess and enjoy, rent out, and/or sell their properties.
